The ITCILO is the training arm of the International Labour Organization (ILO), a United Nations agency entrusted with promoting social justice, including internationally recognized human rights and labour standards. The ITCILO is accelerating the pace of digital transformation and innovation and runs training and capacity development services online, on campus, and around the world.
The Human Resources Services unit is responsible for the design and implementation of the Centre’s human resources policies. This includes the management of the functions of:
- Recruitment and selection of staff
- Administration of entitlements, benefits and compensations
- Health and Welfare
Staff training and development - Career Management
- HR statistics and data management
Functional responsibilities

The intern will:
- Gain practical experience and become familiar with the work of the HR unit in an international organization
- Develop research and analytical skills
- Learn about work organization, and setting priorities
- Be part of a diverse and dynamic team in a multicultural environment
Internship Terms of Reference:
The intern will:
- Research, analyse, and share solutions for an effective HR;
- Research, analyse and draft new policies and procedures based on best HR practices followed by other international organizations
- Experience hands-on the variety of tasks performed by the HR unit.
Qualifications required
EducationMaster’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Organizational Psychology, Business Administration, or other relevant field.
In order to be eligible, the intern must be currently enrolled or have completed such a degree in the 6 months preceding his/her application.
LanguagesFluent in written and spoken English.
Professional working knowledge of French, Spanish (and/or Italian) is an asset.
IT Skills- Excellent command of standard Microsoft Office software;
- Internet research;
- Knowledge of HR data management systems is an asset.
Specific assignments might require different levels of technical proficiency. However, these basic skills should be met:
- Extreme attention to detail
- Excellent organization skills
- Good analytical skills
- Strong communications skills (written and verbal)
- Tact, discretion and confidentiality
- Interest in digital transformation in the field of Human Resources (preferably)
